Israel-Ukraine aid bill signed: Biden says it's a good day for world peace

US President Joe Biden

President Joe Biden signed the 94 billion (9 thousand 4 billion) dollar foreign aid bill passed by the US Congress. The bill calls for providing mainly military aid to US partners in Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific region.

The bill was easily approved by the Senate, the upper house of Congress, on Tuesday after a months-long impasse in Washington.

Welcoming the bill becoming law, US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that it was a "good day for world peace". He also commented that this step made the United States more secure.

In the context of Israel's unprecedented destruction and killings in Gaza, there have been increasing calls from various quarters to limit US aid to the country. But despite those calls and outrage over the Israeli war on Gaza, the aid bill to Israel was passed and later signed into law.

Under the bill, the United States will provide an additional $1,700 million in humanitarian aid to Israel. Over 34,000 people have already been killed in the Israeli invasion of Gaza; Most of whom are women and children.

Under the bill, Israel will receive an additional 17 billion dollars in humanitarian aid. Under the bill, the Biden administration would provide military aid to Israel, build up its air defense system and aid in humanitarian operations. Over 34,000 people have already been killed in the Israeli invasion of Gaza; Most of whom are women and children.

However, President Biden cited the new aid as an effort to help Israel defend itself against an Iranian attack.

Joe Biden said, 'I want to make it clear again about my commitment to Israel, it is ironclad. The issue of Israel's security is important.

Palestinian rights activists condemned the US action. They insist that Israel has been brought before the International Criminal Court for committing genocide against Palestinians.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said Biden overstepped moral bounds by signing the bill.

The Senate approved the bill on Tuesday by a vote of 79-18. On this day, US Senator Bernie Sanders rejected this action and called the day a black day for the Senate. Earlier on Saturday, the Republican leaders of the House of Representatives of the lower house of Congress suddenly changed their position on this bill and passed it.

A total of four bills including that bill were presented in a package in the Senate. The first bill calls for the largest amount of $61 billion (6,100 crore) in emergency funding for Ukraine. The second bill includes $26 billion (2,600 crore) in humanitarian aid to Israel and civilians in conflict zones around the world, and the third bill includes $8.12 billion (8.12 billion) in aid to 'counter China's influence' in the Indo-Pacific region.

And the fourth bill was added to the package last week by the House of Representatives. The bill includes measures to ban the Chinese-controlled social media app TikTok in the United States, move to transfer Russian assets seized in Ukraine, and impose new sanctions on Iran.
